Why We Switched to FieldFuze to Run Our Roofing Business

We've been running American Roofing FL out of Winter Haven for a few years now. In that time we've tried a handful of different tools to keep things organized — scheduling, estimates, invoicing, keeping track of customers. Most of them either cost too much, did too little, or both. Earlier this year we made the switch to FieldFuze and honestly, it's been the best move we've made on the operations side.

The Problem We Were Trying to Solve

When you're a smaller roofing company doing 40-50 jobs a month across Polk County, things fall through the cracks if you don't have a system. We were juggling a spreadsheet for scheduling, a separate app for estimates, paper invoices that sometimes got lost in the truck, and text messages for customer communication. It worked when we had one crew. Two crews and it started breaking down.

We looked at Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, and a couple others. They all wanted $150-$300+ per month, and some of them charge per user on top of that. For what we needed — scheduling, estimates, invoicing, and a place to keep customer info — that felt like a lot. Especially when half the features we'd be paying for (marketing automation, fancy reporting dashboards) weren't things we were going to use.

What FieldFuze Actually Does for Us

FieldFuze handles scheduling, dispatching, estimates, invoicing, payments, and customer management in one app. The thing that got our attention right away was the pricing — there's no monthly fee. Zero. They make money off payment processing (2.9%, which is the same rate Stripe charges anyway), so if a customer pays by check or cash, we're not paying FieldFuze anything for that job.

Here's what we actually use day to day:

What Surprised Us

The mobile app actually works well. That might sound like a low bar, but if you've used some of these field service apps on a phone with spotty cell service on a roof in Davenport, you know what I mean. FieldFuze loads fast, doesn't crash, and you can do everything from the app that you can do on desktop.

The other thing is that it doesn't try to do too much. There's no bloated feature list where you need a training course to figure out the interface. Our guys picked it up in about a day. I'm not exaggerating — it was genuinely that simple.

Is It Perfect?

Nothing is. It's a newer platform, so it doesn't have every single bell and whistle that a tool like ServiceTitan has. But ServiceTitan costs a few hundred dollars a month minimum and requires a contract. For a company our size, FieldFuze covers everything we need without the overhead.

If you're a roofer (or any field service company) spending $100-$300/month on software you only half-use, it's worth checking out. We're not getting paid to say this — we just use the tool and it works for us.

The Bottom Line

We needed something to keep two crews organized, get estimates out faster, and stop chasing invoices. FieldFuze does all of that without charging us a monthly fee, which means we're putting that money back into the business instead of into software subscriptions. For a roofing company based in Winter Haven running jobs across all of Polk County, it's been a solid fit.
